Educational situation modern Russia
It is actual fact, that humanist professions are very lucrative today. Since school a lot of young people suppose this profession to be very promising. With such an viewpoint they are brought up in their families, go to high school, to a university and after all they begin bringing up their own children that way. Cul-de-sac.
Why is it so? What do make people think that technological sciences have lost their importance?
There are several causes.
firstly present machinery reached such a high degree of development that society is capable of operating it without having special technological knowledge. So there is no necessity for subsequent dissemination of engineering education. Humanits application begins dominating in all fields of life.
second it is an actual fact that we are in the consumer society. People in it don’t want to work with their hands. They want to describe the world around and consume things, but not to produce something by themselves. Naturally this fact does not influence positively on spreading of technological knowledge. People are simply not concerned with it.
In the third place is the fact that the resource base has reached such a level of desolation that we frequently have no place for practice after learning the theory.
after all a very major thing is the policy of the state. What professions does it promote as needed today? We can easily get to know it by analyzing our mass-media. The internet, the television, the radio, the press – what ways of life do they promote now? It is easy to prove that they are full of humanist images. Mass-media present us pleasant, nice way of life in which there is no place for hard-work, but there are a lot of talks, beautiful scenes and fantasies.
What do we have as a in the issue?
Lack of expert workers in the technical sphere. There are a lot of philosophers, lawyers, artists, singers, politicians, professors but a few people, able to operate for example a jointer planer. This will cause a dangerous situation when we will be lacking very simple things which are very important for our comfortable way of living.
Besides that our education system is totally ruined. There is no technical literature of high quality – it is either sold or lost. There is no experienced lecturers able to educate adequate personnel working in technical spheres.
Such is the picture. Sad, isn’t it?
Then, there is an adequate question: what should our society do in order to correct the condition? it is clear that there are several actions to be taken. firstly our education system should change its attitude towards technical professions and specialities and theirs perspectives. education system should apply efforts in order to promote technical professions in mass-media.
And of course, the best way to save technical specialities is to assign enough means both for the payment for the people who work in this sphere and to the creating an adequate resource base.
